About me
I earned my BA from Washington University in St. Louis, and my MA and Ph.D from the University of Kansas. I am passionate about teaching and learning because education is a means to gaining knowledge and experience, which is most important in today's society. I was initially taught the John Ratthias method of teaching which calls for a strong teaching presence, and continued with the Communicative method, which is what I use today. I begin each lesson with material covered at the last class, and continue with exercises increasing in difficulty. I do some mechanical exercises, and then move on to allowing my students to create with the language and have some fun with it. Students can expect me to be demanding, but fair and approachable.

I use the communicative method of teaching, which calls on the student to be an active participant in their learning process. I progress from straight forward mechanical exercises to communicative ones that allow students to create with the language. I prefer a relaxed but always respectful classroom, and students can expect me to be well prepared, responsible and highly knowledgeable, but more importantly, I care about my students and want them to succeed as much as they do.
