About me
I studied English and Literary Studies in the University of Abuja, Abuja. I have been teaching for a year and some 6 months as an English teacher. As an English and Literature teacher, I use a variety of methodologies to develop students’ language skills, critical thinking, and appreciation for literature. My approach blends traditional and modern strategies to create an engaging learning environment for primary, secondary, and beginner learners.
One of my primary methods is Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), which encourages students to use English in real-life situations through discussions, debates, and role-playing. This improves fluency and confidence in both spoken and written English. Additionally, I apply close reading and textual analysis to help students examine literary works, focusing on themes, symbols, and language techniques to enhance comprehension and interpretation.
To deepen engagement, I use the Socratic method, where students analyze texts through guided discussions and critical questioning. Creative writing and storytelling further strengthen their writing skills by allowing them to craft original narratives, poems, and essays. I also employ dramatic interpretation and role-playing, which bring literary characters and scenes to life, making literature more interactive and memorable.
For diverse learning needs, I implement differentiated instruction, using visual, auditory, and hands-on activities to accommodate different learning styles. Blended learning also plays a role, integrating digital tools like e-books, videos, and online quizzes to enhance engagement. Additionally, I use a thematic approach, teaching literature through universal themes such as love, justice, and identity, making it more relatable to students’ lives.
By combining these methods, I foster a dynamic classroom where students develop strong communication skills and a lifelong appreciation for language and literature.
