About me
As a teacher, I believe the onus is on me to ensure that students are well-trained, both academically and morally. The hallmark of education is to be targeted at every facet of learning of the students as they should be seen as humans first, then as students. These considerations have been my headlights in my teaching career so far. I always make sure that students are well cared for and nurtured in the right path, as well as being academically sound.
I had two teaching practices during my degree program, with B-grade on both occasions. I've been working with The Maitrebuilder College as a Mathematics Teacher for over three years now. I can remember how my skills and passion for excellence led to the school's decision to start registering for both national and international competitions. It turned out to be a turning point for the school as our students started raking in awards in Mathematics and science competitions. One of the students I trained got the second position at state level of Mathematics Association of Nigeria (MAN)'s competition. The school also came second at the state Fire Service of Nigeria's competition. Recent achievements were Emmanuel Akinbola coming second at the Junior Science Olympiad (first round) and Praise Alade ranking among the best 500 mathematics students in Nigeria after the first round of Math Contest Nigeria. With my experience in training students for both national and international competitions, your mathematically gifted students are in a safe hand as their interests and intelligences will be groomed to the level befitting them.
I also had to expend all my energy and teaching skills to get information across when I was teaching at Bankanu community high school. The students had little understanding of English because they were majorly Hausas. I had to learn the basics of their language in other to communicate and engaged the use of some passionate gestures, to which a parent commented the improvement they had on his child. I believe this will help in communication with students of various technical and academic abilities in your school.
I am a graduate of Mathematics Education from the University of Uyo with Mathematics as a core course. I graduated with second class, lower grade level. I took courses such as Algebra, Calculus and Statistics. I also have my teaching license in Nigeria called TRCN. I am currently working on QTS application.
I love to engage a student-centered approach to teaching in other to cater for individual differences. Overall, I use both conventional and modern methods of teaching, leveraging on my knowledge of the use of gadgets.
In conclusion, I find learning thrilling and will help you enjoy it.
